Many people dream of going on an African safari to see the untamed wilderness and witness exotic animals in their natural habitat. African Trails & Safaris is one of the most popular adventure travel tour operators in the region and its experienced staff have been making those dreams come true since 1980. With tours ranging from seven days to 39 weeks, travelers can find packages to fit any interest and budget size.

African Trails & Safaris offers dozens of adventure tours with excursions through 26 countries. Their safari truck tours offer the safest and most enjoyable way to enjoy a safari holiday. Their professional drivers are experts in traversing the rough terrain through territories where public transportation is notoriously unreliable and finding suitable accommodations can be challenging for those attempting to go it alone.

Among the company's most popular packages is an 11-day safari through Kenya and Tanzania. In Kenya, guests will visit Masai Mara National Reserve with its population of cheetahs, leopards, and lions. It is also known for the annual migration of wildebeests, gazelles, and zebras from July to October as they move between the reserve and the Serengeti. Optional extras include visits to the Elsamere Museum and afternoon team at Lake Naivasha, as well as bicycle rental for a ride through Hell's Gate Park.

The Game Parks and Gorillas tour departs from and returns to Nairobi with travel through Kenya and Uganda. Stops at Bujagali Falls on the Nile River in Uganada, Lake Bunyonyi, and Masai Mara are among the highlights of this trip. The optional side trip to the Virunga Mountains offers guests the opportunity to spot the rare Mountain Gorillas living in this area. The excursion also includes a crossing of the equator.

The Nairobi to Victoria Falls package spans 21 days with travel through Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania, and Zambia. This package offers an optional excursion to Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater. Camping inside the park allows travelers the opportunity to experience what it is like to live among the animals.  Guests on this tour will camp at Mikadi Beach in Dar es Salaam for three days and have the option of taking an optional side trip by ferry to Zanibar Island. Tourists can enjoy a variety of activities on the island including spice tours, diving and snorkeling as well as visits to nearby islands.

The London to Cairo Trans Africa trip lasts 38 weeks with travel through Gibralter, the Sahara Desert, the mountains of Ethiopia, Egypt, and more. Individuals signing up for this excursion must understand the difficulties associated with traveling where other tourists avoid, riding on inferior roads, and dealing with a lack of communication with the outside world at times. Guests are expected to share and be willing to work with others as a team to cook over an open fire, collect firewood, dig the truck out of mud, or anything else that needs to be done.

Most African Trails packages include transportation, tents, camping fees, cooking equipment, sleeping mattresses, and some meals. Prices do not include airfare, transfers, or visas. Guests are also responsible for purchasing their own personal travel insurance.

If you’re looking for more information or Special Offers from African Trails & Safari’s, as well as other adventure travel tour operators, then you should head over to 18-35 Travel.

Travelling Off The Grid

By Jeff from Shopnfly
We strongly believe that everyone wants to explore the world. Exploration opens doors to experiences and adventures one would have never thought possible. Sadly, it’s safe to say that most individuals’ regard traveling as only railing through European capitals, checking off everything on the list your local travel agent gave you. The most fulfilling experiences however are the ones that shock you to your core, exposing you to the wonders of the world’s different cultures and locations. We argue that at least once in your life consider traveling through the often-disregarded developing world. Way off most travelers’ radar, “3rd world” countries offer some of the most fascinating explorations every person should experience at least once in their life. Here’s what you can look forward to by choosing these so called “under-developed” countries as your travel destination.

Exposure and Simplicity
If you’re reading this article than you are a fortunate to be part of the world that has a running Internet connection. That said, traveling is all about the experience, what you learn and what you take back home with you. Seeing the non-modern world can be an enlightening experience. There are communities all over the world that will give you the sensation as if you travelled back in time. Trekking through Nepal travellers can find villages without running water and are completely self-sufficient by using age-old methods of gathering resources. Live amongst the natives on your travels, and you are guaranteed a new perspective on life. Not to mention the disconnect from modern communication devices is an incredibly liberating experience for any 21st century traveler.

Trekking
There are two types of travelers, those who take guided tours and those who guide themselves. Now don’t get me wrong, sometimes the energy is just not there and a simple guided tour of a city or monument is all you need to fill your cultural quota. For those seeking adventure and disregard the “guided trails” then traveling off the grid is just for you. One of the magnificent aspects of traveling to an under-developed nation is that in most cases much of the land has been left un-modernized and untouched by man. South-east Asia, Africa, and many parts of South America offer some of the most scenic trails known to man. High definition photos don’t do justice to sites such as the Tanzanian safari, or the iconic Mount Kilimanjaro. Travelers often grab their bags and take off for weeks into the wild, often coming back exhilarated and fulfilled.

Tourist-Free Isolation
When booking your dream travel experience the term “tourist season” often comes up. Travelers try to beat the crowds by flying to popular locations in a time of year that that’s considered a quiet time. In most cases this does not work, and nothing kills the exploring mood like obnoxious people circling you with their cameras as you try to soak in the experience. In the developing countries you will often find yourself completely isolated as you explore these beautiful wonders of the world. Such areas as the Great Himalayan trail offers more than 1,700 kilometers of quiet scenic travels. For a true authentic cultural experience, off the grid travel is a must for all adventure seekers

The downside with traveling off the grid in developing countries is safety and transportation. One must not be naïve to the dangers of travel, and with looters and pickpockets everyone should be aware and informed of safety precautions regarding personal belongings. Another hardship is moving about locations. As opposed to the western world most of developing nations lack convenient transportation meaning it could take hours or even days to reach your desired location. However, these obstacles can add to the adventure and provide great stories to tell your loved ones. From our experience when travelling off the grid, the juice is definitely worth the squeeze.

This article was bought to you by Shopnfly. Shopnfly is the first shopping marketplace for travelers across duty frees around the world. A revolutionary online platform that allows you to search through a wide range of duty free products and find the best deals across all the destinations in your travel itinerary. Whether you’re traveling for business or pleasure, Shopnfly can help optimize your travel experience by comparing prices and giving you promotions across duty free markets all over the world.
