People who want to attend festivals travel to some of the most exotic places in the world. Many countries have annual celebrations that attract visitors from all around the globe. There is typically an abundance of mouth watering food and plenty to drink at these festivities. Most of them have parades that lure thousands of costumed revelers to the streets for dancing and singing to blaring music.

One of the most well known and popular festivals anywhere is Carnival, in Rio de Janiero, Brazil. In late February to early March each year, thousands of revelers from around the globe don costumes and join in the parades. This week long party is about people, dancing, and samba music. Everyone is there to have unlimited fun while experiencing this flamboyant affair.

TGW Travel Group customizes trip packages according to the preferences of its clients. They want to be sure that everyone is entertained day and night. Packages can include the costs for airfare, lodging, transportation, admission into nightclubs, and a consultation about all the best parties in the area. Spain, Brazil, and Argentina are also favorite destinations of their clients.

Another famous carnival that rivals the one in South America is the Carnevale in Venice, Italy. There are huge and grandly produced balls and parties. This gala is known for the extravagant and intricately designed masks everyone wears.

The United States celebrates its biggest carnival, Mardi Gras, on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday every year. It is held in New Orleans, Louisiana. Besides the infamous parade throughout the city and festivities on Bourbon Street, it is a great venue to overindulge on greasy foods and sweet alcoholic beverages.

Drinking is the favorite activity in Munich, Germany when it hosts its annual Oktoberfest. The steins overflow with local brews during the end of September and first week of October. Almost 7 million fans of Bavarian beer and food visit each year. The celebration that lasts for 16 days is the biggest of its kind in the world.  Busabout is a travel company who offers several affordable trips to the festivities in Munich. They have packages for the budget minded traveler that can include airfare along with accommodations within walking distance of the Beerfest.  They even provide breakfasts and give you a free drink on arrival.

Spain has many fun festivals that are very popular to attend. The most well known occurs every July, when the annual Running of the Bulls takes place in the streets of Pamplona. The excitement begins when the bulls are herded onto the streets to chase the young men who are brave or crazy enough to run with them. There are usually more than a dozen or more runners injured before the bulls finally enter the ring for the afternoon bullfights.

One of the two annual events that have attendees looking skyward is the Lantern Festival in Pingxi, Taiwan. The night sky is lit up from the glow of thousands of lanterns hovering above. The night of merriment takes place in February.  The other one takes place every October when people from all over travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States for the biggest hot air balloon fiesta worldwide. It began in 1972 with only 13 balloons. Over the years its popularity forced officials to limit entries to 600. Other attractions include balloon related games and stunts.

People attending these and other festivals travel hundreds to thousands of miles each year. They come from all age groups, with the majority being young people aged 18-35 years old. The main point of going is to experience the different cultures and joining together to have a good time.

Youth Travel Trips
By FOMO Girl
Young people taking trips with youth travel tour operators are making international destinations a popular choice. Backpackers and others, who plan their own vacations and trek around Europe alone, will miss out on the many advantages of using a professional tour company.

There are increasing numbers of current college students or ones that just graduated signing up for these types of tours. They appreciate having professional guides escorting them on their trips. It is not uncommon for guides to be in the same age group as the travelers.

The price for a trip will vary, depending on destinations, length of stays, and inclusions. A top US operator, Contiki, has in excess of 60 European trips to offer. Duration and prices can range from several days in London for $225 to almost $4500 for a 48 day ultimate European vacation. The cost of lodging, meals, and transportation for all excursions are typically included in their price. Oftentimes the price for admission into area attractions is also covered.

For the student travelers who exist on a very small budget, less costly lodging can be arranged at the most affordable hotels and camping grounds in the area. People with more expensive tastes can choose higher priced tours with more luxurious places to stay.

Student and Youth Travel are tour operators who state the most visited location in 2013 was Italy. Travelers can learn about Italian customs and their way of life. Ride the gondolas through the canals in Venice and experience some of the most important places in the history of art. Italy is also home of the Colosseum and the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa.

The second most popular destination for youth tours last year was Spain. Its cities offer both modern and historical attractions. The architecture and history of the Roman Aqueduct at Segovia is a definite must see for most everyone. The magnificent culture of Spain is evident in the Plaza de Oriente.

Great Britain has such a variety of things to do and places to see. A trip like this is educational and exciting for the youthful tourist. Among the most popular attractions are Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, and the London Bridge.  A great Scotland local tour company is HAGGiS Adventures.

France, Austria, and Germany are three charming and scenic countries where student travelers gather. The fantastic construction of the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, and the Arc de Triomphe make France a favorite vacation spot. There are also many wonderful castles to explore.

Located in the middle of Europe is the Czech Republic. It has many unique and several unusual museums to offer its visitors. The Museum of Torture, the Marionette Museum, and the Wax Museum are three places most people will find very interesting.

Although China is not typically considered a destination for student or youth tours, it is still one of the most popular. Reading about the Great Wall, Tiananmen Square, and the Forbidden City in their schoolbooks cannot compare to seeing these historical sites in person.

Youth travel tours allows young people to experience and learn about other cultures. On these trips they will be able to meet and develop new friendships. This is an opportunity to make memories that last a lifetime.

18-35 Travel now has a brand new section dedicated to Youth Travel.  You should start there for some great information.

Munich gets it festival mood on for the beer celebration of Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest in Munich
by FOMO Girl
Have you ever wondered what it is like at the Oktoberfest in Munich? Have you ever imagined singing along with tens of thousands people accompanied by 'oom pah bands'? Have you ever thought what it would be like to dress up in lederhosen and dirndl dresses and dance the night away on tables in massive beer tents? Have you ever wanted to experience great Bavarian beer, fantastic german cuisine and unique local culture? Well all of these questions can only be answered by saying that this is one adventure you don't want to miss.

This 16 day Oktoberfest festival in Munich is a celebration of what else, but beer. Hence why it has been nicknamed and is more commonly referred to as Beerfest.

One would presume with a name like Oktoberfest it would be held in October, but it actually commences each year in the middle of September and concludes on the first weekend of October.

More than 6 million people from all over the world attend the festivities during the 16 days and in that time they consume more than 6 million litres of beer. That's 1 litre for every man, woman and child who attends.

Just over 200 years ago, the Crown Prince of Bavaria, a young guy called Ludwig, later to become King Ludwig I, married Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen. All the residents of Munich were invited to the wedding, which was held on the fields in front of the city gates. As part of the festivities were some horse races that marked the close of the event. This was seen as a celebration for the whole of Bavaria and the following year they decided to run the horse races again. This was the beginning of what we now know today as Oktoberfest. The festival was eventually lengthened and moved to commence in September to allow for better weather conditions.

What can you do there? Drink the best beer in the world of course. There are currently 14 large tents and 20 small tents at Oktoberfest. The tents themselves are non-permanent structures that are constructed for and only used during the festival. All the beer tents play different types of music and have entertainment to keep the crowds buzzing.

The Oktoberfest site includes numerous amusement rides, schnapps tents, plenty of traditional Bavarian delicacies like pork knuckles, bratwurst sausages, roast chicken, potato/bread dumplings and of course pretzels.

What sort of beer do they have at Oktoberfest? The beer is some of the finest lager varieties in the wold and to be classified as Oktoberfest beer it must be brewed within the city limits of Munich and must conform to to the German Purity Law.

The price of a 1 litre stein (or Mass in German) is around 8 to 9 Euros. However, always remember that if you want your server to return it is customary to tip them, so generally allow 10 Euro's for a beer.
